Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 1.0 is here.

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom

I had downloaded the Beta versions of lightroom last year and really liked the way the product was advancing.  For me, and what I do the feature set was pretty robust.

I was using Canon's Digital Photo Professional, ZoomBrowser EX, Adobe Photoshop Elements, and a few other utilities to handle my images.  By the Lightroom Beta 4 package I pretty much eliminated all of them.  The only program I really used after that was Adobe Elements.  And frankly, it wasn't that often. I've used Photoshop at work for years.  Before Lightroom, I actually considered buying it for home.  But if I'm going to get Photoshop I'd rather get the Adobe Creative Suite.  And for the cost of that, I'd rather get a new lens for my 30D.  I guess I'm more of a photography purist at heart since I don't tone, create overlays, or any other creative artsy things with my photographs.

A couple weeks ago all the Beta testers were sent an email from Adobe letting us know that the retail version was being released at an introductory price.  During the Beta testing I was led to believe the price of the product was going to be much higher, but the introductory price was to good to pass up.

So now I've had Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 1.0 for about a week.  And I'm very happy with my decision to buy it.  Adobe made a lot of additions between the Beta 4 release and the retail version 1.0.  The only thing I'm a little dissappointed with is the Web Module.  I wish the templates could be modified more easily.  I can't really get any of the templates to blend with this website with the standard settings available.  I have found out that there is a "Unsupported" function that provides more settings in the Web Module.

Unfortunately it locks up my computer (hence the "Unsupported" part).  Hopefully the Adobe Developers will address this soon and make it SUPPORTED.  If they do, it will probably make my day and just about make the product perfect for what I do.  :)
